Sonata medication information.Chemical Name: ZALEPLON (ZAL-e-plon) What is Sonata? Sonata has been studied only for the short-term treatment of insomnia (days to weeks). No one knows how safe or effective it is if you use it for longer than 28 days. The usual dose of Sonata is 5 mg to 20 mg at bedtime. Take it right before going to bed, or after you're in bed and having trouble sleeping. You can take it with or without food, but avoid high-fat foods with Sonata because they can delay its action. Common uses: Directions: Possible side effects: The most common side effects of Sonata include stomach upset, weakness, and muscle aches. Less frequently, Sonata may cause memory problems. It doesn't seem to cause morning drowsiness after you've slept. Because Sonata is a sleeping pill, it does cause drowsiness. Don't take it before driving or operating machinery. |
